I AM A CANDIDATE FOR SUPERVISOR
IN DISTRICT 3

Let me tell you why:

EFFECTIVE REPRESENTATION

I have lived, worked and served causes in District 3 for thirty years. I know it well: I will continue effective representation for safer, cleaner, greener streets and parks and protect our neighborhoods, small businesses and historic waterfront.

District 3 is Chinatown, North Beach, Fisherman’s Wharf, Nob Hill, Russian Hill, Telegraph Hill, Polk Village, the Embarcadero and Financial District.

PERFORMANCE

As president of Community Counseling Service I guided funding projects for healthcare, education, senior services, housing, and preservation. These include On Lok Senior Services, BRIDGE Affordable Housing, Save the Cable Cars, and the Restoration of Fort Mason Center. Mayor Newsom appointed me to the Council to End Chronic Homelessness, chaired by Angela Alioto, where I assisted the City plan for supportive housing:
“Mike, it never could have happened without you.
Thank you, Angela"
(July 18, 2004)

Mayor Brown and Governor Schwarzenegger appointed me to City and State Commissions on Aging and Adult Services. Archbishop Levada recruited me to help the Shrine of Saint Francis in North Beach.

PRIORITIES

I support public safety, senior services and affordable Housing. I will also work to improve transportation, parks, and infrastructure with community input on the proposed subway, cruise terminal, and new waterfront. The City needs spending and hiring reforms to retain jobs and tax revenues for district services. The $6 billion City budget is larger than 20 states and our 28,788 City workers are 1:26 residents.

FAIRNESS and RESPECT

I will protect rights of seniors, renters, small property owners and merchants. I’m a member of renter-homeowner Friends of Golden Gateway and Barbary Coast Associations. I serve on boards of North Beach Neighbors, Columbus Day Committee, U.S.F. Hospitality Management, the Handicapables and American Institute of Ethics board with former Mayor Frank Jordan, former State Senator Jackie Speier, civic leader Alessandro Baccari and other dedicated community leaders.
